Remove Google Background Image. Yesterday, Google unveiled a new “feature” on its over-simplistic Google search page, the Google Background Image. If you are a Google die-hard fan, you would know that the main page consists of Google’s logo and the search box below it on a white background. It has been like this since the beginning up until now whereby Google has made it available to users to decorate their Google homepage with a background image much like your desktop!

This change is thought to be a response to Bing’s growing popularity albeit not so much. Microsoft’s Bing is simple except that it has a background image. This image is set by Microsoft and cannot be removed by the user. In a surprising turn of events, Google used a play from Microsoft’s playbook and modified it a little such that the background image is changeable by the user.

To some, this is good, to others not. Thus, there are outcries for a removal of the background image. Fortunately unlike Bing, we could remove it with a simple click of the mouse. Here are the steps to remove the google background image:

1) Go to www.google.com

2) Fixate your eyes on the lower left corner of the screen

3) Click the link with the anchor text “Remove Background Image”

4) Voila! You are done
