Demonoid Down April 2010: Alternatives are In Demand  | read this item

The most popular Public tracker, Demonoid.com is down once more. It is a website and BitTorrent tracker created by an anonymous Serbian known only by the pseudonym “Deimos” and “Zajson”. It indexes torrents uploaded by its members. It was in year 2008 wherein it was ranked to be the 403rd most popular website by Alexa in the overall tally. Demonoid is known to have tons of books, legal music and free promotional software.

It is not the first time for the site to went down. Last year, around September 19, the site went down after it was reported that they had experienced a number of computer problems stemming from power outages. The tracker returned to service on November 5, and the main site returned on December 13.

April 27, 2010 the site went down once more as did the tracker, however as of April 28, 2010 the tracker is back online however the site is still down. Users has been seeking for alternatives to cover up for its absence. Here are some few reliable alternatives you can use as of the moment. There alternatives were also presented when the site went down last year. Just be responsible in using it and as much as possible for useful purposes only.

The Pirate Bay – Though there were official notification of the pirate bay closed down but TPB still holds its position in top torrent websites with huge userbase.

Mininova – Mininova statistics reveal 1 million torrent files available, this public torrent tracker has all kinds of downloadable torrents. Inarguably the best torrent site that stand stills in 2009.

Bit Torrent - Bit torrent and the client makes it easier to find and download torrents reverent to the interests. Already a popular torrent site!

Iso Hunt – The bit torrent search engine tracker 16 million hits every month and 1500 TB of downloads available.

Above alternatives were the best Torrent Websites of 2009 as written in blogote.com. If you any alternatives aside from this, feel free to post in the comment box.

    http://eztv.it/
is great for the latest TV torrents

  2. Harkonium says:

I love to be the bearer of good news! The site is NOT down, there is just a massive denial of service attack which is making the site super slow/non responsive. I have been trying to surf demonoid for a while tonight and have had limited success in obtaining what I had set out to find. It’s only a matter of time before it’s up to full service again; hopefully it stays up….

  3. politux says:

Problem #1 – Mininova took down the majority of their torrents. That site is totally useless now.

Problem #2 – IsoHunt is not a tracker, it is an indexer. Two totally different things.

  4. ClarkeGable says:

Be careful with ISOhunt. I’ve been flagged there before.

  5. God says:

ThePirateBay is full of trojans these days. Let’s face it, kids, there aren’t too many good alternatives to Demonoid…let’s hope it’s back up to 100% soon.

  6. Dude says:

    @ ClarkeGable
    Use peerblocker.

  7. lp says:

Someone please freaking edit this article.
    It clearly wasn’t proofread.

  8. jonathan says:

privite trackers that yoy need a invite from and have a high ratio not name anything don’t want them to be offline

  9. Ctech says:

When denoniod went down last year I joined http://www.torrentbits.ro/ even though you do have to keep the ratio good, downloads are fast, uploads too Ive had no problem keeping my ratio,I will say if your not there to share, you shouldnt be there.

  10. Zoosey says:

Mr Robb Chew, Do you even download anything at all? The Pirate Bay is now a joke, has been nixed by a lawsuit over a year ago. Mininova was sued and is totally worthless. ISO Hunt exists “sort of” but is practically useless, also because of recent lawsuits. The only alternative to Demonoid is BTjunkie. Everybody knows this except you.

  11. Luke says:

Amazing what you can rip off wikipedia and claim as your own… ><

  12. assio says:

    Robb Chew are u stupid?
Mininova does not have any torrents(real one’,not some stupid free stuff) now.ISOhunt is not a tracker.Do some research before writin bullshit

  13. Eric says:

I agree with lp. The grammar in this article is horrendous. I get irritated by this sort of thing all the time. I even see it in nationally published periodicals. It makes me want to travel to their office and say, “‘hey, are you looking to hire a proofreader, or do you have your 7 year old niece edit this stuff?’ ‘I could use a cushy job like this.’”

  14. repeating_yesterday says:

isohunt lite became the alternative for US citizens, due to whatever new bullshit law they passed.
However, you can get around this by visiting foundhide.com.
Was rather pleased when I figured this out, however there is no good substitute for demonoid.

  15. Dec says:

@Jonathan: I have no idea what you’re trying to say. You don’t “need” an invite “from them.” Any user can give you an invite, also, registration is completely open on the first weekend of each month. High ratio’s are not enforced like they used to be. The last part of what you said makes no sense, “not name anything don’t want them to be offline.” If you’re referring to torrents not being named, don’t be mistaken, everything is named.

  16. load.shaggy says:

-Mininova: has closed its trackers and doesn’t have much to offer on their site anymore.
-Isohunt: Is dealing with legal issues.
-Piratebay: R.I.P. closed it’s trackers a long time ago.
***Also for those using demonoid becareful trying to actually get on the site, i was hit by a worm virus completely destroyed my computer. So make sure the site is full up and running before you attempt to get on.***

  17. Howard Stern says:

http://www.iptorrents.com is a good alternative to demonoid. All the others like priate bay iso hunt are crap! If you can get an invite to IPT that is where I would go!

  18. brandonalex says:

2 great websites alternative to demonoid, are torrentscan.com and extratorrent.com

  19. Aciid says:

“Mininova inarguably the best torrent site that stand stills in 2009.”

Uhmm last time I checked, TPB is, always has been, always will be, THE BEST TORRENT SITE. This article is bollocks.

  20. irnbru says:

if you don’t mind reading russian, there is an amazing tracker called rutracker http://rutracker.org/ (used to be called torrents.ru) the choice there is incredible. You should use chrome for browsing it as it can translate all the page in english (pretty accurate too!)

Just you have to register between 2 different times. So it is limited in time everyday (I think about 2 hours between two precise time and this every day).

    Cheers

  21. Poriah64 says:

Better alternatives for Demnoid are Torrentday and Torrents4All. Demonoid is always my first choice but when this s$*! starts to happen, these have proven to be good for the downtime. Never had to worry about Trojans or bogus files.

    http://www.torrentday.com/

    http://www.torrentsforall.net

  22. politux says:

Pirate bay is still working as an indexer. They closed their tracker but they are still the #1 torrent site. I prefer Hexagon.cc but that’s just me.

  23. Anono says:

Mininova is insanely censored and the others are very HEAVILY monitored by anti piracy/p2p companies. Download from them and don’t be surprised if you get an e-mail form your ISP or a letter in the mail telling you to pay a fine..

  24. gunmaster0 says:

i spent hours looking for a reliable torrent site and so far i found none, there’s really not much alternatives for demonoid. i just hope the website goes back online soon…

  25. Michael says:

Good article Rob, but if you contribute articles for a site, you should be able to spell and use English correctly, otherwise it looks very unprofessional. Your article has more grammatical mistakes than my 5 year old nephew would make. Examples: “Public tracker”- don’t capitalize the word ‘public’. “It was in year 2008″ ? -> just write “In 2008…” Next, “It is not the first time for the site to went down” – you mean for the site to GO down. Next, “Users has been seeking for alternatives” (my God!) you mean users HAVE been seeking alternatives (leave out the word ‘for’.) next, leave out the word “few” in the next sentence and the following sentence “There alternatives were presented” -> you mean THEIR alternatives were presented. Geez, man, even a high school newspaper would check spelling and word usage. tank you and guud by

  26. limewire says:

    lmao sweet info dude.

  27. Momster says:

L7 World: Thanks for tip on EZTV; very useful!

  28. irnbru says:

    Demonoid back on! ;)

  29. irnbru says:

    Ongoing denial of service attack

There is a denial of service attack in progress that is causing extreme slowness.
We are currently working on solving the issue.

    Thanks for your understanding

  30. Wow this is a great resource.. I’m enjoying it.. good article

  31. menilman says:

If TV is your game, eztv.it and tvtorrents.com is for you.
torrentday is good, torrentzilla is ok. sonofshun.com is good for documentaries and The Daily Show stuff.
torrentreactor.net does have stuff other than porn and viruses, if you take the time to screen them.

  32. Thomas says:

    It is back now!!!!

    I am so happy
