The young teenage sailor, Abby Sunderland was safely found by a rescue team 11:30 p.m. of Pacific time. It was a team of a jetliner from Qantas Airways that was dispatched from Perth together with dozens of harbor patrol spotters on board.

She had her last blog entry on Wednesday saying: “The wind is beginning to pick up,” she wrote in her blog from the Indian Ocean on Wednesday. “It is back up to 20 knots and I am expecting that by midnight tonight I could have 35 – 50 knots with gusts up to 60 so I am off to sleep before it really picks up.”

Early Thursday, her parents lost their contact to her and an hour later, they were informed by the coast guard at French-controlled Reunion Islands that both of Sunderland’s EPIRB satellite devices on board her vessel Wild Eyes had been activated.

Right then and then, a rescue team has been sent to save her. Fortunately, Abby was found safe and alive She 2,000 miles east of Madagascar.

Good thing this young sailor was found safe.
