The AIDS Walk NYC 2010 will mark the 25th year of the advocacy on HIV-AIDS. It is an advocacy that started as a voice in the wilderness 25 years ago when people thought that AIDS is a disease so harsh that every person with HIV should be avoided. 25 years after people are more aware, informed and concerned about the issue and everyone is doing their share.

AIDS Walk NYC 2010 will be on May 16, 2010 and registration will start at 8:30 am. The program will start with a 9:00 a.m. aerobic warn up followed by the formal opening ceremony.

The formal AIDS Walk New York will start at around 10 in the morning.

This year donations and all money raised from the event will be donated to GMHC, the world’s first and leading provider of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and advocacy. During the last 25 years AIDS Walk NYC has raised a total of more than US$110million to raise awareness and fight AIDS in New York City. This year the organizers are targetting at least a minimum of US$5.3 million in funds raised.

One of the many sponsors this year included Chembio Diagnostics, Inc. (OTCBB: CEMI). Chembio develops, manufactures, markets and licenses point-of-care diagnostic tests, and is the only New York-based manufacturer of rapid HIV/AIDS testing products. Chembio employees will also be joining in th historic New York AIDS Walk 2010.
