Every year, Atlanta celebrates Dogwood Festival. Its more than just a spring festival wherein you will be seeing dogwood trees everywhere but also you would be able to enjoy free music and exhibits in the park. This is the 74th annual dogwood festival starting from 16th April and will end on 18th April 2010. You heard it right, this is a festival of trees and not of dogs.
You could also enjoy the comedy skits around Piedmont Park wherein it is being held. The exhibits also educates children on how to take care of the environment as well the trees. Dogwood is Cornus genus having 30-50 species of mostly deciduous woody plants growing as shrubs and trees. It comes with a heavy bark and flower clusters which are semi-showy, usually white or yellow, in cymes with large showy bracts, fruit red, blue or white. This event always brings with it the beauty of Dogwood trees along with exciting entertainment.
